Baseball is really something else. It is a game essential to someone’s life. Popularized by heroes that are admired and idolized, these exceptional individuals are none other than the great Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Yogi Berra who serves as the backbone of this institution. An institution that humanity came to love. And today is one of the most esteemed sports the world had ever seen.
Presently baseball is being attacked by the use of illegal substances or steroids in the game. Major League Baseball or the MLB is undergoing difficulties in stopping the use of performance enhancers in the sport. They devised a plan to test players in search for traces of this substance. In addition MLB will schedule such exams in a random manner to eradicate the chances of cheating.
These Substances also recognized as Arnolds, stackers, Steroids, and performance enhancers are to improve an athlete’s ability and form. These drugs are used by weight lifters and athletes in sports. Strength, endurance, and rapid muscle growth are some of the positive effects of these stackers. Development is probably impending in an athlete by increase in speed and agility.
There are also known shortcoming from performance enhancers. Substance misuse for one, can create a feeling of intolerable rage. There are some effects in the improper use of this substance that are worst like sleeplessness, loss of hair, hallucination, and dizziness. Possibilities of cancer and heart problems are also a major concern. These drugs can be detected inside the body for a long period of time if used regularly.
These substances are greatly utilized by baseball players to perform well in their game. Some say batters can hit the ball consistently from the use of steroids that enhances their sight. More than 70% of ball players are believed to be using substances or steroids. There are certain situations that these drugs are found in the personal belongings of an athlete, and were consumed regularly. It is no shock to know that these ball players are so reliant of these hypes.
The earliest sign in using these substances in sports was during the 1950’s World Lifting Championship and soon evolved to baseball. The MLB was the last amongst the major sports organization that executed a complete steroid testing policy. This rule all started when a baseball player was seized for possessing nutritional supplements that contained signs of prohormones and Androstendione. Since then the MLB became stricter relating to drug induced substances particularly steroids and performance enhancer. Up to this date baseball players are still found with traces of such drugs in their body.
The problem at hand is concerning the reputation of the Institution along with the high standard of its status in the society. The unjust acts of the baseball players in the sport diminish their characters as role models to the people. The MLB must prove their dedication in implementing action against these illegal substances. The ball players should demonstrate fair practices in the sport and provide
cooperation to the league. They must learn that the only answer for a great performance is excellent training and good exercise.
